Meet Our Artists

Rain Hickson

Rain began her experience in makeup application over 25 years ago while she was a member of a local Atlanta dance company. She worked with stage makeup on herself, and then eventually did applications on many other company members and students for performances. She also discovered a love of painting using oils, acrylics and mixed media. Her passion for painting and makeup grew throughout the years, influenced by the movies and music videos of the 80's.

She has since expanded her techniques to include wedding and photography makeup. Her range includes everything from edgy and fantasy makeup to romantic, soft wedding looks. She has a natural talent and is self taught, but has also studied under other makeup artists from M.A.C and Cinema Secrets, benefiting from the knowledge they have to share with her. She believes learning is a life long process, and is dedicated to pursuing further knowledge of her craft, always updating her techniques.

When she is not at LUX, Rain's free time is spent on photo shoots and at various local stage performance events, continually diversifying and adding to her portfolio.

DJ Howard

D.J. brings diversity to LUX, along with her 15 years of experience in multi-cultural hair. Her talents are strong in cutting and colouring with extensive training from Sebastian, Wella and Redken. D.J. is currently a Sebastian Design Artist, an amazing image consultant, has worked in theatre and the local medial. D.J. has a strong history with hand blended hair extensions...a unique service that is not offered by anyone in Atlanta! Her emphasis is on forming the perfect image for each client with the combination of cut, colour and make-up. D.J. is known for utilizing her many talents on any hair texture or ethnicity.

Mimi Lee

Mimi truly believes in the Vidal Sassoon "precision way" as a core to everything that she does. Six years ago she began her career at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in California. After graduating she continued her studies in New York where she trained with Gerard Scarpaci, Creative Art Director for Aveda.

Mimi moved to Atlanta 4 years ago to work in an Aveda Salon where she took part in industry shows in New York, California, and Canada to continue her growth and knowledge in both cutting and coloring hair. Mimi has also dabbled in teaching herself at the Paul Mitchell Institute working under Scott Cole. While her portfolio consist of hair shows, weddings and photo shoots as well as working in the salon, Mimi still considers herself a student, a valuable tool to help her grow. She is an artistic versatile stylist that can work with any hair texture.

Lauren Leffelman

Lauren began her career as a determined apprentice of two and a half years under a Sebastian platform artist. She offers a wide range of services with her extensive training on cutting techniques, color theory/creative application, styling, finishing, as well as extensions, and make-up application. Lauren has traveled the country, working behind the scenes at numerous hair shows, fashion shows, photo shoots, and on-location weddings. She is certified by one of the top hair extension companies and offers a variety of techniques to accommodate anyone's want or need. Due to Lauren's passion for the industry, she religiously keeps herself up-to-date on seasonal trends. Her natural ability with color, has earned her a place on the Wella color education team. "Coming into a salon should never be stressful! I want to build a trusting relationship with each of my clients, allowing for their confidence - and my CREATIVITY."
